I can’t create new Channel using input field and “Create channel” button

It looks like this, after clicking “Create channel” input field border turns green and green check mark appears. Then Message shows "This repository is empty at the moment.“ But there is no new channel to choose from dropdown menu. While pijul itself report Error: Remote channel "<channel name>" not found

its my imagination or that feature has worked in the past ?

also it seems that I can’t push a new channel from my local repo unless I create a new matching channel in the remote repo. so. I guess I’m not using channels with nest at all.
