Sorry for replying so late, this already exists in Pijul: pijul unrecord is actually the inverse to pijul apply, not to unrecord, so I guess it could be called that. The reason for the name is mostly historical, coming from Darcs.

We all love symmetry. Wouldn’t it be nice if:
would get us in the same state? That is, the message of the unrecorded patch would be set as default message.
