#644 Thanks for pijul! Some command line aliases and an executable naming suggestion

pmeunier, I very much appreciate your long term dedicated work on pijul. Congratulations on reaching beta. As a long time darcs user/contributor/hub maintainer and occasional pijul watcher, things are sounding very good. As of the beta I’m now successfully using pijul and nest for some small stuff.

As usual with a new VCS, I needed aliases to use it comfortably. New users, especially coming from git or darcs, might find them useful at least for getting started:

On typical keyboards, “pijul” is not pleasant to type very frequently; the right hand must type all letters, and the motion is not easy. So the first thing I did was alias it to “pj”. May I humbly suggest renaming the executable that way before adoption increases ? A tool that’s quick to type will catch on faster.

Many thanks!

[“darcs” has the same issue! But at least the motion is more circular.]

I would generally agree that pijul is not convenient to type frequently and one of the first things I did upon (just) starting to use pijul was set alias ani pijul in my shell for precisely this reason.

I do have alias pj=pijul in my ~/.bashrc, too. That was the first thing I did after I successfully built and installed it. pj is much easier and faster to type, one character better than git! ^^
