1. Monster stats and generation is governed by a monster skill tree which is also controlled by the player

The player can allocate nodes on the monster skill tree, which does 3 things: increases monster stats, increases drop rate that monsters give character tree skill points (aka "monster level", but we can't call it that because we haven't defined "character level" in a meaningful way yet), and reveals the fog of war on the character skill tree
